I just realized that I titled one of my old blog posts, "3 weeks strong". It makes me realize how long I have been in Ghana...almost 5 months. And I have almost been at site for 3 months. wow. time is going so fast, but at the same time so slow. Sometimes I feel like I have been here for years.
It has been long since I have last written. It has been a chore just trying to check my email with the internet being slow and unreliable.
So far I have just been getting to know my village and letting them get to know me. The first 3 months are all about just settling in and builiding a reputation (hopefully a good one) for yourself.
I've just been greeting elders and other commmunity members, learning how to cook some Ghanaian foods, hanging out with my counterparts and supervisor, visiting nearby villages and settling into my house.
So far, I can say that I am fairly happy here, but it is a tough adjustment. I feel that i retain my core reasons for comeing here, but some of my reasons have also changed. I will elaborate at another time. I am constantly asking myself why I am here. It is tough.
Well, today I am travelling for a PC meeting. Soon I'll send a more detailed update.
